Mystery leak

I have a mystery leak. I have used eternabond on the rear seam and have crawled around all over the rear of the roof but can't find anywhere it could be leaking. When it rains hard it leaks into the very back passenger side corner which is a little closet beside the bed. I have what looks to be an aluminum roof that someone has put a silver textured coating on. Can I just cover the whole roof with Kool Seal? Will that stop a leak or should I do something else? Thanks for any suggestions.

RE: Parts

I have a 89 Fleetwood Flair on a Ford chassis and the parts are listed for a E 350 Econoline . Mine is a 26 footer with a 460 EFI engine. Chuck. Does yours have a spring loaded tensioner? Mine does not. Mine only has a fixed idler pulley for the power steering side and I have to adjust belt tension manually with the alternator on one belt and power steering pump on the other belt. By the way, the belt number for the E 350 with a 460 are different than the ones it calls for on the F53 chassis but still too long for mine. Really puzzling.

RE: Parts

Rock Auto has the same part numbers and belt lengths. The alternator belt it calls for would probably work but it's just different than the one the previous owner put on it. But they might have put the wrong one on. I'm more concerned with the power steering, a/c, fan, crank and tensioner belt. The one listed on Rock Auto and on Advance Auto Parts is way too long. They call for a 69 1/8" belt and I had to get a 61" belt to make it work. Even the one they have for a non a/c engine is 68" which is still too long. It really confuses me. And, yes, I'm sure it's an F53. I have the owners manual with the serial # and vin #.

RE: Parts

You might have an 1989 or 1988 chassis and that could be what is creating the error. check your VIN the 8th digit from the end will be the year model code for the chassis Yeah, that's the first thing I checked on their website. The same belts are called out for 1988, 1989 and 1990 F53 stripped chassis. Mine is a 1990. I hate to have to carry parts with me everytime I want to buy something. Any other thoughts? Thanks, Stacy

Parts

I went on to Advance Auto Parts website the other day to look for a new belt for my motorhome. I selected 1990 for the year and F53 stripped chassis as the model (which I was surprised to see in the list). I found the belt I needed, went to the store and bought it. When I get back home and go to put it on, it's way too long. So, I deciced to check the other belt. The person I bought the RV from had just replaced it and gave me the package so that I would know which belt to get for next time. I look up the alternator belt online at the Advance Auto website and the number was totally different. Part of the number of the belt shows the length and none of this matched what it called for online. So, is their website just totally wrong or is my motorhome something special? Any thoughts or experience with this? Thanks, Stacy

RE: When Direct TV or Dish Net do you move the box?

Go into an electronics store and buy one. With DirecTV, when you go into a store like Best Buy and "buy" a new reciever, you are still leasing it. At least that's how it was when I "bought" a new one about a year ago. If you ever cancel service with DirecTV, you have to send it back to them. You can buy one off of ebay but make sure to check the receiver id number with DirecTV to make sure you aren't buying a leased receiver.

RE: Owning and operating a campground

Hmmmm, I really didn't expect such an overflow of negative repsonses. Here's my thinking. I already work at a job that takes up a lot of my time and doesn't leave much time for us to go RVing. It just seemed to me that owning a campground at least gets me around the camping atmoshpere. I understand working with people. I've done it and really don't mind that. I would just love something where I can be my own boss, meet people and have fun. Anything worthwhile takes a lot of work. I was just curious on other owner's or previous owner's takes. Thanks, keep em coming.

Owning and operating a campground

I am new to RVing but I love it so far. Me and my family think it would be awesome to own and operate a campground. It seems like a fun and relaxed lifestyle. I would like to hear opinions from people who own or have owned a campground. Is/was it as rewarding as it seems like it would be? Does it allow you to pay the bills/make profit? Any other thoughts or ideas would be awesome. Thanks, Stacy

RE: Tank sizes

Thanks for the responses. I noticed the first time out that the grey water tank filled up really fast and we didn't even take showers. I wonder if I could fit a larger grey water tank in there?

Tank sizes

So, I email Winnebago today cause my owner's manual doesn't tell me what the sizes are for my tanks. I was told by the people that I bought it from that the fresh water tank was 100 gallons, the greywater tank was 80 and blackwater was 80. But, Winnebago tells me that the freshwater tank is 41 gallons, blackwater is 52 and the greywater tank is 25. The greywater tank size seems really small. What do you guys think?

Visited states map in signature

Everytime I try to load the jpeg for the visited states map for my signature, it gives me the error message that my picture doesn't fit the 500x100 size even though it does. Any help on what the problem is? Thanks, Stacy

RE: Is there a way to drain my water tank?

Jeffyjeff, Your rig is old enough that Winnebago doesn't have the plumbing diagrams for it posted on their website. If you'll email them though, they'll send you pdf's of the plumbing and electrical. I got a reply back from them for mine in about an hour. I was very impressed. Stacy

RE: Roof top A/C

So, which "coils" do I clean? There is the condensor that is open to the outside and then the evaporator that is more or less open to the inside. I'm using automobile terms and they may be called different on these units. The evaporator looked brand new and clean. The condensor was somewhat dirty so I sprayed it off with my pressure washer. In the process, I inadvertently bent a number of the fins over so I'll be spending some time straightening those. I'm thinking it wasn't dirty enough to make much of a difference but we'll see.

RE: New tire question

Peaches, Do you have the Michelin XPS Rib or something else? Mine has Goodyear Wrangler HT on there now, and they don't look bad. But they are old, and I would like to replace with a real RV tire if that's what I need to do.

RE: New tire question

I'm a little confused. Michelin and Goodyear have info about RV tires and lists of their RV tires. The lists don't include any light truck tires like Goodyear Wranglers. I also read that RV tires are special. So, can I put light truck tires on it as long as they are the right size and load rating or am I supposed to stick with a special RV tire?

RE: New tire question

The Goodyear G670 doesn't come in my size. The other tires with the exception of the XPS Rib just don't look like RV tires. They look more like all terrain tires which I think would look weird.

New tire question

I am planning on buying new tires for the front of my rig (see signature). My tire size is LT235/85-16. Any suggestions on where to get new tires and which tire to get? Thanks.

RE: Roof top A/C

I have 30 amp power and a switch to be able to switch between front and rear A/C. And, by hardly working, I mean it blows but the air is not cold but just barely cool. The people I bought the motorhome from just had it serviced last year and had freon added to it so it must have a leak or something. I also do not have ducted air.
